A Voter Educator at the IEBC is responsible for sensitizing and educating citizens on electoral processes, voter registration, and voting procedures. They ensure voters understand their rights and responsibilities, promote civic participation, and help improve awareness and transparency during elections.
Responsibilities
A voter educator must be a resident of the Constituency where the by-election is taking place.
Must be a speaker of the main language used by residents of the electoral unit.
Possess a diploma and above in a relevant field (Social Sciences / Project Management or equivalent).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in voter education, community mobilization or social work.
Must be mature, respectable and non-partisan with strong understanding of civil society, geography, and socio-political dynamics.
Proof of having successfully conducted voter education or informal training within the electoral unit.
Demonstrable interest in electoral processes.
Commitment to patriotism, nation-building, democracy, human rights, and gender equity.
Must NOT be engaged in any other job during the contract period and must work exclusively for IEBC.
Working knowledge of computers, social media, and digital platforms.
Proven report writing skills.
Requirements
Receive and distribute voter education, information, communication and publicity materials.
Map and engage state and non-state partner organizations such as media agencies, Civil Society Organizations, Community Based Organizations, Religious Organizations, Government ministries and opinion shapers/influencers.
Identify and engage public benefit organizations serving marginalized groups such as women, youth, persons with disabilities, elderly and ethnic minorities.
Conduct voter education through face-to-face meetings, mainstream and social media platforms.
Represent the RO in partner-organized forums and meetings.
Address concerns raised by the public.
Assist the RO in conducting briefing sessions for accredited voter education providers, election observers and media practitioners.
Receive, consolidate and address election-related concerns raised by the public.
Compile voter education, partnerships, communication and stakeholder engagement reports for review by the RO.
Submit a constituency-based report to the RO upon completion of the voter education exercise.
Perform any other duties assigned by the RO.
