Job Description
A Polling Clerk at the IEBC assists in the smooth conduct of elections at the polling station by identifying voters, issuing ballot papers, managing voter flow, and maintaining accurate election records. They support the Presiding Officer in ensuring the voting process is transparent, orderly, and conducted according to electoral laws and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in laying out the polling station and counting room.
- Demarcate and display posters at the polling station.
- Control queues and guide voters to their respective polling stations.
- Ensure that KIEMS kits are fully charged and ready for use.
- Confirm that a voter has not voted by inspecting their fingers for indelible marks.
- Identify voters before allowing them to vote.
- Issue stamped ballot papers to voters duly identified in the register of voters.
- Assist the Presiding Officer with sorting of votes after voting during the counting process.
- Perform any other official duties assigned by the Returning Officer or Presiding Officer.
Requirements
- Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
- KCSE aggregate grade of C- and above.
- Must be of good character.
- Must be available for the entire period of the exercise.
- Must be a resident of the Constituency or County Assembly Ward they are applying for.
