The objective of the position is to provide a high standard of client care to both outpatients and inpatients, in accordance with clinical guidelines, policies, procedure, quality standards and guidelines for nursing professional practice
Responsibilities
Work within the assigned ward or clinic as both a supervisor and team
leader for refugee staff.
Prepare for and assist doctors during ward rounds whenever required.
Ensure all required observations, prescribed treatments, and procedures
are properly carried out and documented on patients' charts.
Refer relevant patient information, including patient status and
laboratory results, to the doctor in charge or the doctor/Clinical
Officer on call to support effective clinical management.
Prepare and submit weekly clinic or ward work schedules and assign daily
duties and responsibilities to refugee staff.
Participate in camp health surveys, campaigns, and outreach activities.
Conduct regular training sessions for refugee staff on basic nursing care,
management of ward and clinic cases, and proper chart documentation.
Provide health education to patients, clients, and community members.
Compile and submit monthly reports accurately and on time.
Monitor and supervise the proper use of medical supplies and resources.
Ensure equipment is maintained in good working condition and submit
regular inventory reports.
Maintain drug registers and monitor drug consumption at ward level.
Ensure all admissions, discharges, transfers, and deaths are accurately
recorded as they occur.
Take and record patients' vital signs and ensure proper documentation of
all nursing procedures.
Ensure the clinic or ward is maintained and cleaned according to required
healthcare standards.
Provide coverage and remain on-call as required to support continuous
patient care.
Requirements
Over two (2) years of relevant nursing experience.
Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Nursing from the Kenya Medical
Training College (KMTC) or another recognized nursing training
institution.
Possession of a valid and current practicing license issued by the
Nursing Council of Kenya.
