The Clinical Officer's main objective is to provide quality health care both outpatient and in-patient units through patient clerkship, diagnosis and treatment of diseases based on clinical signs and symptoms and available laboratory findings
Responsibilities
Conduct clinical assessments and prescribe treatment to all patients in
accordance with MOH and WHO guidelines.
Ensure all patient registers and files are accurately completed and
regularly updated.
Maintain strict patient confidentiality and treat all patients with
respect and dignity.
Perform minor surgical procedures as required at the workstation.
Take detailed patient histories and update treatment records for all
patients admitted to the wards.
Conduct and participate in ward rounds.
Respond to medical emergencies within the hospital and health posts.
Attend and actively participate in weekly Continuing Medical Education
(CME) sessions organized by the hospital.
Supervise medical assistants stationed at health posts.
Conduct regular on-the-job training sessions for auxiliary staff and
incentive workers attached to the workstation.
Maintain high standards of quality care for all patients.
Identify critically ill patients and provide treatment based on priority
and urgency.
Compile and submit reports accurately and within required timelines.
Ensure adherence to universal precautions and infection prevention and
control guidelines.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge Management
Create and share knowledge by documenting lessons learned, success
stories, best practices, strategies, and approaches.
Track best practices and maintain awareness of current trends, emerging
issues, opportunities, and thematic areas related to youth engagement
initiatives within the county.
Conduct research to identify appropriate stakeholders and cost-effective
program components, and support their implementation in practice.
Requirements
Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
Registered with the Clinical Officers’ Council of Kenya and in possession
of a valid practicing license.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a refugee
setting.
